The dxr2-driver Project is an effort to create/maintain Linux Platformdrivers for the Creative dxr2 DVD Decoder Card.
History of the Dxr2 Linux DriversThe original dxr2 Linuxdrivers were written by Andrew de Quincey and Lucien Murray-Pitts.However, when the drivers became pretty stable development halteddramatically. The dxr2 drivers went several months without anydevelopment, and were becoming 'out of date' with the Newer linuxkernel's and bug were arising. This prompted the other users who wereactivly using there dxr2 on Linux to continue where the originaldevelopers left off, and as a side effect of this, the dxr2 ResourceCenter was created.

dxr2-driver patch archives
Now and then a patch is submitted to the dxr2-driver that helps improve the quality of the software,or sometimes it just breaks the driver. Either way, we like to keep an archive of all the patches submitted. Some of these patches have made it into the CVS repostory, some have not. Its not advised that you use anyof these patches unless you KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. Chances are that you will do more harm than good.
There are two main mailing lists for the dxr2-driver project. The mailing lists is where all of the activity aboutthe dxr2-driver project takes place, as well as discussions about other projects.
- dxr2-devel
This is the main development mailing list for the dxr2-driver and other projects. Anyone who wishes to follow the development issue's of the driver, or is having some kind of problem with the driver should read the documentation first, then email this mailing list for support. - dxr2-announce
If the dxr2 card works in your machine, and really don't care about receiving daily emails about development, support issue's then you should sign up for dxr2-announce. This list is a VERY low traffic mailing list that is used only to announce new releases, updates, important information, etc. regarding the dxr2-driver and related projects.
The Canon RAW Codec is software designed for owners of Canon mid- and high-range cameras who shoot in RAW. It adds support to Windows for CR2 image files which allows Windows Imaging Component (WIC) applications to import these files without extra software or plug-ins.
Depending on the software you have running on your system for developing your digital photos, installation of the Canon RAW Codec may or may not be necessary. For example, Adobe Lightroom offers native support for these files. On the other hand, if you're running less expensive software then having the codecs installed may be helpful.
Even though the program is outdated and has not been updated in a while, users with older systems owning a Canon camera may consider installing this official software. It is also helpful if you wish to preview your images in Windows Live Photo Gallery. Otherwise, Adobe users and those running newer graphics editing programs probably don't need to worry about the Canon RAW Codec.
