I have successful used Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 under Windows 7 x64 and Media Express 9.7 on an HP Z840 for a few years. Recently performed an in place upgrade to Windows Pro 10 x64 and afterwards the device, drivers and media express all worked as before.

The Blackmagic Design Intensity Pro HDMI Editing Card is an excellent choice for your digital and analog capture needs. The card fully supports NTSC, PAL and HD video via HDMI, component, composite or S-Video. It supports two channels of embedded, RCA or S/PDIF audio at television-standard sampling rates. DeckLink Quad 2 features 8 independent SDI capture and playback channels in a single card! Fully compatible with the previous 4 channel model, this new model also allows 4 independent capture and playback channels but now also includes 4 extra channels that developers can use for configuring the card in any combination of up to 8 capture or 8 playback channels. This means DeckLink Quad 2.
To fix problems with other devices I had to upgrade the ChipSet drivers compatible with Windows 10. In doing so, it also installed new USB 3.0 drivers and naturally Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 quit working. After uninstalling Media Express 9.7 and checking Device Manager, I could see two unknown devices, one with hardware ID 'USBVID_1EDB&PID_BD3B&REV_0301' I'm pretty sure this is the Intensity Shuttle as it shows up in Sound, video and game controller category of Device Manager after reinstall any version of Blackmagic Desktop Video greater than version 10 for Windows 10. I also found matching hardware ID's in the INF driver files for this device.
A second device, which shows up only after plugging in the Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0, remains unidentified, it has the Hardware ID of 'USBVID_04B4&PID_8613&REV_001'.

I ran Blackmagic Desktop Video installer using MSIEXEC /a to extract the contents of the installer and then examined all of the driver INF files to find a driver matching this last unidentified device, none were found matching this hardware ID, so this appears to be the reason why Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 is not found when launching the video capture software.
I uninstalled version 10.6.6 of Desktop Video and tried reinstalling version 9.7 which originally worked, that failed spectacularly, hanging during the install then blue screening forcing Windows into Recovery Mode. I could go through each version of Desktop Video and examine each INF file to see if there is a driver hardware ID that matches this unknown device, but based on BM recommend system configurations, that appears to be a waste of time and effort.
In looking at the supported hardware list on the form, I've noticed that USB 3.0 products are only supported on Windows 7 and 8, and on HP PC's up to the Z820. I've never had a product that failed to work as long as I followed Blackmagic's recommended system requirements.
So here are my questions:
- Will the HP Z840 with USB 3.0 and Windows 10 be supported in future versions of Desktop Video? Or is it the position of Blackmagic to cap support for USB 3.0 at the HP Z820 model and on Windows 7 and 8?
- Is there a lower version of drivers for Desktop Video, but no lower than version 10, which supports USB 3.0 on the HP Z840?
Per company policy, are PCI's cards the only products which will support the HP Z800 series going forward on Windows 10? - Has anyone had success setting up a VM running Windows 7 or 8 and successfully running a Desktop Video version in a virtual environment? And if so was it with USB 3.0 or PCI capture card?
- I can reinstall a backup to my HP Z840, before I updated the chip set drivers, which would fix my USB 3.0 problem for the Intensity Shuttle and restore it. But I would have to selectively update drivers which are failing elsewhere and as chip set drivers usually come in a package (all or none) I may be at an impasse, short of putting down cash for a new PCI capture card.
- If I go the with a new PCI capture card, what would other users recommend for non-production home use?

I'm discovering Resolve (what a blast!) but the only audio output that works is the Mac internal sound card.
Blackmagic Device Driver
As a music recording studio, we have other sound cards installed that we use for audio monitoring and the Mac is located in a remote machine room, so hearing distant low quality audio isn't really workable, I'm afraid.
The strange thing is that, even if a sound card different from the internal Mac one is selected to play the system sounds (using Audio/Midi setup), Resolve refuses to use it.
Projects settings > Capture and Playback > Playout: Enable audio output // is checked
(this one should be checked by default, btw).
Preferences > Video I/O and GPU: Use System Audio Output // is checked.
This one made me think that Resolve would use whatever audio interface/soundcard is selected as the system audio output.
Audio plays back just fine when in the Finder or using QT/VLC, etc.
So here are my questions:
